In de Tweede Wereldoorlog heeft Bertrand Henri Drilsma (Deventer, 21 januari 1879 – Amsterdam, 28 juli 1943) een vleugel/pianola, een Grotrian Steinweg, in bewaring gegeven. Bertrand was cellist bij het concertgebouworkest in de periode 1899 – 1906. Hij was econoom. In de periode dat hij in de Hollandse Schouwburg zat in afwachting op de deportatie naar Westerbork maakte hij een einde aan zijn leven. Zijn vrouw, Betsij Cato Nord, leraar M.O. Frans werd gedeporteerd en op 27 augustus 1943 in Auschwitz vermoord.
Hun zoon Albert Henri Drilsma (Amsterdam,1915 – Sydney 1990) was in de oorlog in Londen. In Amsterdam zocht hij na de bevrijding nog naar zijn ouders eigendommen, niet wetende dat de vleugel in bewaring was gegeven. In 1951 emigreerde hij naar Australië met vrouw en twee kinderen. Deze kinderen worden gezocht: Elizabeth Helen Drilsma (Watford, 25 november 1945) en Bertrand Frederik Drilsma (Amsterdam, 12 juni 1949). Degene die nu de vleugel in bezit heeft wil dit instrument teruggeven aan de erfgenamen en niet zomaar verkopen. Reacties graag naar Robert Ferretti, e-mail.
During the 2nd worldwar Bertrand Henri Drilsma (Deventer, 21 January 1879 – Amsterdam, 28 July 1943) gave a grand piano, a Grotrian Steinweg, in deposit. Bertrand was a cellist at the concertgebouworkest from 1899 – 1906. Hij was an economist. In the spell that he was waiting for his deportation at the Hollandse Schouwburg he took his own live. His wife, Betsij Cato Nord, teacher in the French language, was deported and killed on the 27th of August 1943 at Auschwitz.
Their son, Albert Henri Drilsma (Amsterdam,1915 – Sydney 1990) was is London during the war. After the liberation he came to Amsterdam to look for the possesions of his parents. He was not aware that the grand piano was in deposit. In 1951 he emigrated to Australia with his wife and two children. We are looking for those children: Elizabeth Helen Drilsma (Watford, 25 November 1945) and Bertrand Frederik Drilsma (Amsterdam, 12 June 1949).
